Major Messages From Christ’s Apostles
Many years ago God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world and enacted a plan of salvation through His death on the cross that atoned for the sins of all those who would place their faith and trust in Him.
During Jesus life He chose 12 men, known as Disciples (students) / Apostles (sent ones) and trained them, empowered them, and sent them out into the world to be a witness of His love and grace. They went forth, full of faith and power, filled with the Holy Spirit, and ready to lay down their lives for the sake of the gospel (good news) and their resurrected King!
Through their efforts and the anointing power of the Holy Spirit Mark 16:20 says, 20 “…they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs.” They planted churches across Asia Minor and the region of Greece, as far away as Rome and even into northern Africa. So strong was their ministry and so impactful was the Early Church that the Jews of the Synagogue of Thessalonica complained, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too” (Acts 17:6).
While many years have transpired between the time these Apostles ministered the grace of Christ and were moved upon by the Holy Spirit to write letters, prophecies, visions and instruction to the Early Churches of the first century. The relevancy of their message couldn’t be more timely or critical. Their convictions, beliefs, and doctrines are “essential truths” for our times that we must adhere to and hold tightly to with matching tenacity and without compromise!
2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 Paul writes, 13 “But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, 14 to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle. 16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, 17 comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.”
In this new series of messages for March and April I want to focus on the major messages (big picture ideas / doctrines) that constitute the core messages of Christ’s Apostles in the New Testament. They were intended for us in 2016. They carry a relevant communication from God for our day, our times and our culture. They contain a practical and applicable lesson intended to teach us the heart of God concerning the salvation of man, the need for the Baptism in the Holy Spirit to accomplish the Great Commission, the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and the critical steps we must take to live holy and righteously in the midst of a perverse and wicked generation.
Over the coming weeks we will be digging into several of these New Testament books and exploring their message together. Our aim is to obtain a New Testament Perspective in addition to a relevant application for the 21st Century. We begin this series with the intent of answering this one question: What did these apostles believe so long ago that is relevant to us today?
1) Apostle #1 ~ Peter: “We Are A Chosen Generation” March 6
2) Apostle #2 ~ James: “Faith In Action” March 13
3) Apostle #3 ~ Jude: “Vigorously Fight for the Faith” March 20
4) Apostle #4 ~ Paul: “Faith Is The Victory” March 27
5) Guest Speaker: Ernie Salinas April 3
6) Apostle #5 ~ John: “Christ Is Coming Again” April 10
We hope you'll join us for this special series! God bless.
