Major Messages From Minor Prophets
A long, long time ago God moved upon certain individual’s hearts and placed an anointing and a message within them.  It was a relevant message for their time and in most cases it also contained a pertinent message for the people concerning the future as well.
Much time has passed since those messages were delivered to the people of Israel and the surrounding nations.  In fact, thousands of years have unfolded between the time when these fresh prophecies were spoken and our year of 2016.  Much has changed including the rise and fall of nations, cultures, religions, economies and technological advancements.  Yet as amazing as it is, the relevancy of these messages are as timely as ever.  In fact, it just may be that we have entered into those “future moments” that these prophets alluded to.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
There are major messages for our times from these minor prophets of the Old Testament.  They were intended for us in 2016.  They carry a relevant communication from God for our day, our times and our culture.  They contain a practical and applicable lesson intended to teach us the heart of God concerning the wickedness of man, the coming Kingdom of God, and the steps we can take to make our hearts right with God through Jesus the Messiah.
Over the coming weeks we will be digging into several of these minor prophets and exploring their message together.  Our aim is to obtain an Old Testament Perspective while also gaining an understanding of modern-day application.  We begin this series with the intent of answering this one question:  What did these prophets see so long ago that is relevant to us today?
