Last fall, I wrote about my transfer to Missouri, to work with a new ministry of AGWM: the Global AIDS Partnership (GAP). GAP is a specialty team AGWM, and functions as a resource and response team for all regions of the AGWM world who request assistance with HIV/AIDS activities. The team assists nationals and missionaries in assessment, program design, implementation and evaluation of HIV/AIDS activities, and searches for and produces teaching and training materials. Select members of the team provide medical, technical and health expertise when requested. I loved the years I spent working in Africa, raising awareness of HIV and equipping people to respond to the needs provoked by the HIV crisis in their communities. Those two things – promoting HIV awareness and response to the crisis – are still my great passion. What’s great about being with GAP is that it allows me to broaden my horizons, extending out to new areas. It’s been refreshing to develop new goals after working so many years with the old ones! Into this new position I’ve brought with me the same conviction I had in Africa: when we teach people to respond the presence of HIV in their community, they can pass that information on to someone else, who can share it with someone else, and on it goes. My ministry is about equipping people to take the message to others, without depending on me and my resources. FURLOUGH I’m starting to make definitive plans about furlough, which I’ll start in February or March. I’ll send a letter soon with the details. Blessings to you! THANK YOU for your support! Nancy
