Teen Challenge

Greetings in Jesus' name! What a blessing it is to serve God in Teen Challenge Ministry. Great things are happening all through the Pacific Northwest Region. TC remains the most successful rehabilitation program of it's type.
The reality is that Teen Challenge is the most successful and least costly program for those with life-controlling problems in our nation. Allow me to share a few statistics:
  • The average cost of housing a student for a year in TC is $1,100 per month. Government programs are short term usually less than 90 days ... the cost ranges from $6,000 to $15,000 per month. I'm sure this accounts for a great part of our massive health care insurance problem in America.
  • TC is a 12 month-long program and there are no direct charges for residential care to the students. The student body is supported by donations, gifts, family sponsorships, friends and churches. TC does not inflate national health care costs.
  • Worldwide the illegal drug industry is a 400 billion dollar market, second only to the arms industry. Believe it or not the illegal drug market is a larger market than the oil industry.
  • Today in America there are 13 million drug users, as many people as live in the states of Washington and Oregon combined.
  • Our prison population houses 1.7 million prisoners incarcerated for drug use. It cost an average of $35,000 per year per person.
  • America has over 4 million crack users walking our streets.
  • America has 6% of the world's population. America traffics 60% of the world's illegal dmgs.
  • Since 1992 America's drug abuse problem has doubled.

Are we overwhelmed? Yes, sometimes we are. But then we realize that God has called us to work with young women one soul at a time with your help, we will succeed.

Friends, it is very evident to me that Teen Challenge International Pacific Northwest Women's Centers are a much needed outreach in America. Govemment programs call us, they ask can you accept a Mary or a Susie or an Ann... a lady who has failed 3 or 4 times in treatment. They come in. God works a miracle. One more life is saved and set free. One by one we, haved helped hundreds of young ladies in our Pacific Northwest Centers. I hope that you can see that we are addressing our nation's drug epidemic.

It doesn't work to put desperate people on a waiting list. We must do more! But we can't for two reasons: finances and the need to expand our facilities. Will you help us to build up a major wall of defense against these issues with a gift?
